Why EPDM?

Extreme temperature tolerance
Maintains seal integrity from −40°C to +150°C — wider than PVC, NBR, or SBR alternatives.31

Longest outdoor lifespan
EPDM’s ozone and UV resistance prevents surface cracking. Ideal for outdoor or rooftop installations.

Broad chemical compatibility
Compatible with dilute acids, alkalis, polar solvents, steam, and water — unsuitable for petroleum oils and fuels.

Low permeability to steam
Outperforms PVC and NBR in steam and hot-water service. Preferred choice for HVAC and food-processing steam lines.

FAQs

What does EPDM stand for?

EPDM stands for Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer — a synthetic rubber whose non-polar backbone gives it superior resistance to ozone, UV, heat, and polar chemicals compared to natural rubber, SBR, or NBR compounds.

No. EPDM is not compatible with petroleum-based hydraulic oils, fuels, or lubricants. For hydraulic oil service, Kingdaflex recommends our SAE-rated hydraulic hose range using NBR or Neoprene inner tubes instead.

Standard EPDM hoses handle up to +150°C continuously. Steam-grade formulations can handle short-term exposure up to +180°C. Cold performance extends to −40°C without loss of flexibility — better than PVC or SBR alternatives.

Food-grade and drinking-water-compliant EPDM compounds are available. Please specify this requirement when requesting a quote so we can confirm the correct compound is used for your application.

Kingdaflex offers textile braid (single or double) for standard pressure and flexibility, steel wire helix for vacuum/suction service, and multi-ply or spiral construction for high-pressure chemical and industrial lines.
